THE ECONOMICS OF PEACE AND THE CITY OF BALTIMORE

Date: April 10th, 2021, 2:00 PM- 4:00 PM (EDT)

Ellen Brown and Walt McRee from the Public Banking Institute and Alanna Hartzok, Earth Rights Institute, will focus on how our current economic system grows out of inequities and injustice in our land tenure, tax and money systems. They will then consider how Baltimore can bounce back to prosperity by building a just economy. This unprecedented conversation will consider fundamental reforms of the land, tax and banking system to revive Baltimore’s economy by enabling the supply of affordable housing, locally grown food, and sufficient public finance to pay for parks, schools, libraries, transportation and other needed public goods and services.

Respondents:

David Swanson, Executive Director, World BEYOND War

Jean L. Athey,  Executive Director, Maryland Peace Action

Michael Brennan, Board Member, Public Banking Institute
