The Political Economy of Social Problems
Based on Henry George’s “fighting book”- Social Problems, this five session course will present a critical analysis of the causes of poverty and inequality. We will document and evaluate theories and policy responses advocated by mainstream economists before stressing the pertinence of George’s proposed reforms that reward free enterprise and offer dignified alternatives for laboring masses.
The course will make the case that social problems result from a failure to comply with the natural laws that govern the distribution of wealth in society.
