PROGRESS AND POVERTY
Session 5149 East 38th Street, New York, NY 10016Through an intense and thorough analysis of George’s seminal work, Progress & Poverty, this course will take aim at the fundamental problem of wealth distribution and show that the only viable alternative to “bad capitalism” is not socialism but “true capitalism”; where socially created wealth is put to the service of the community rather than privatized. The course will lay out George’s simple but radical remedy, so that we may avoid the insanity of trying the same solutions and expect different results.

THE POLITICAL ECONOMY OF SOCIAL PROBLEMS
Session 4149 East 38th Street, New York, NY 10016Based on Henry George’s “fighting book”; Social Problems, this five session course will present a critical analysis of the causes, manifestations as well as the consequence of income disparity in society. We will discuss and evaluate various theories and policy responses advocated by mainstream economics before presenting a Georgist paradigm that rewards the efforts of the entrepreneur without exploiting laboring masses.
This course will trace the root causes of social problems back to the natural laws that must govern the distribution of wealth in society.
