Cliff Cobb

From 1990 to 2026, Cliff worked for various nonprofit organizations: Redefining Progress in San Francisco in the 1990s and most recently as editor of the American Journal of Economics and Sociology.  He has sought in his work to find new points of connection between the philosophy of Henry George and other intellectual traditions.  From 2003 until now, he has given lectures in China every few years under the auspices of the Institute for the Postmodern Development of China.  His aim is to reframe Georgist thought to conform with its roots in ancient Chinese philosophical traditions that eventually (around 1750) crossed into Europe and influenced the Physiocrats and Adam Smith, and thus Henry George.
