Course: Recasting Economic Concepts in the Light of Henry George’s Work

Start Date: January 26, 2026

It is a testament to the timeless value of Henry George’s writings that, 147 years after the publication of Progress and Poverty, key insights that underpinned his political economy still dominate public policy debates. In this new lecture series, we will delve into George’s take on monopolies, his theory of credit, money, and interest, and his unique understanding of economic downturns and their cure, with an eye toward making them accessible to a broader audience.

The instructor, Dr. Marty Rowland is a trustee and long-time faculty member of the Henry George School. His most recent course, Rentier Capitalism, is available on the School’s YouTube channel. You may also visit Common Ground USA’s website for additional information on Marty’s other presentations and papers.

Dates: Mondays – 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16 (from 6:30PM to 7:30PM ET)
