Masters of Money: Satoshi Nakamoto – Bitcoin’s Mystery Inventor

In his 2008 Whitepaper, Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System, Satoshi Nakamoto introduced, and then implemented in running code, a protocol for a truly disintermediated two-party peer-to-peer transactions in reified value. The underlying problem which Satoshi solves is how to transfer value–a somewhat different issue than the simple store-of-value questions which Gesell deals with. This talk will address the larger question of ‘what is value?’ and will contrast Satoshi’s ideas with the ‘value investing’ practices of Benjamin Graham/Warren Buffet/Charlie Munger that have dominated value theory for the past 70 years. And because this talk will rest on that comparison, it will effectively be offering two ‘Masters of Money’ for the price of one: both Satoshi Nakamoto and Warren Buffet.

The instructor, W. E. Perry has for decades been engaged in developing the tools of Semantic Analysis, which are specifically conceived as the preferable alternative to statistical, and especially stochastic methods in the understanding of determinism, causality, and the emergence of new properties and methods as those are reflected in data from a variety of disciplines.
