Alan Tonelson

Alan Tonelson is the Founder of RealityChek, an independent blog covering economics, national security, their intersection, and other public policy topics. He is also a columnist for IndustryToday.com. For 18 years, Tonelson followed U.S. trade, manufacturing, and technology issues for the U.S. Business and Industry Council, an advocacy group for domestic U.S. manufacturers. The New Republic has called him “the most influential economist spreading the nationalist gospel.” Tonelson’s book on globalization, The Race to the Bottom, was published by Westview Press in 2002. His articles have appeared in Foreign Affairs, The Atlantic, Harper’s, FOREIGN POLICY, Fortune, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and many other leading publications and websites. He also comments regularly for major news outlets. Tonelson has testified before Congress and several government commissions, and lectured to government, business, labor, and academic audiences around the world. Tonelson’s former positions include Fellow at the Economic Strategy Institute and Associate Editor at FOREIGN POLICY.
